I must say that I was rather underwhelmed by it!The graphics are good and crisp. The storyline was very basic and predictable. Spoiler alert: I would have dumped the 'prince' at the end as he told a pack of lies. I was attracted by the fairytale theme as I'm tired of supernatural HOGs, but the story was pretty lame. Buy it on sale as I did. It isn't bad, just very mediocre. 6/10.. One of the easier Artifex Mundi games, but it looks pretty, has voice acting and is still a fun game to boot. Some of the items you had to look for in the scenes were a bit archaic, but most were easy to find. The puzzles/minigames had a nice variety to them, though none were terribly difficult, and the story was passable. It was fun for a play through like every one of this companies games have been. It's also easy to pick up and play for a half hour and then leave or just let run in the background, which is why my playtime is a bit higher than others. All in all, definitely worth playing through if you're a fan of the other Artifex Mundi games.. The story is ridiculous, there are so many logic fails, but I still had fun doing the puzzles. I bought it way on sale for $3, I don't feel cheated. I don't recommend paying any more than that, however, because it's not worth it. This is a thumbs up that's also kind of a "meh?". This one is a bit clunky for a HOG. The game play mechanics are dated, and the story isn't particularly great.Pick it up if you're a HOG fan and it's on sale.. It honestly pains me to write a negative review for an Artifex Mundi game, as I have enjoyed so many others, but I simply cannot recommended this one, (knowing that AM only published it rather than developed it makes me feel a little, tiny bit better). The story is practically non-existant, and what little is present is very vague and cliched; the game feels extremely short, (even for a HOP game); the bonus chapter is super dumb; and the game is just overall lacking. The puzzles are fine, the voice acting is mid-line which is normal and doesn't particularly faze me, and the scenes are somewhat pretty but that's really about it. It only took me about 2 hours to complete; the only reason it says I have 6.6 on record is because I left the game on pause and went to do other things. That's how utterly uninteresting it was. You play as a Queen, (who'd have guessed?), who apparently, despite wearing what looks like a modern-day Prom dress, has to do everything herself, included fixing and loading a ballista and a ship. That's probably hard to do in heels. Anyway, it's just a very bland game. If it's part of a collection and it's on sale, you can waste a couple hours with it, but it is certainly not worth it on its own.. This game has me a bit on the fence. It's not an amazing game but it's not a horrible game either. It feels like an older Artifex Mundi game so I won't factor in the age for my review since I'm just happy to have a chance to play another fun game. But I will say right now, get this game on sale only. The story is the worst part of the game. You play a beautiful queen, marry a guy, have a baby and it's kidnapped. That's about as deep as the story goes. None of the characters are fleshed out or have much personality and the story is cliche. Even after learning why the villain kidnapped the baby I felt very uninterested. Near the end he gives you the option to join him or die, I really wanted to see how the game would be if I could have joined him! But nope, it all ends the way you'd expect. The bonus chapter, which is very short and uneventful, requires you to save your husband from his stone prison. No epic quest either, just three areas of the castle.Story aside, the gameplay is good. The mini games offer a challenge as well as a headache. The hidden object scenes are also entertaining. My only gripe would be that certain objects in the hidden item scenes will blink and change shapes so you have to catch it at certain times. Not exactly hard but a little annoying. But that it's enough for me to dislike the game. The mini games and hidden object scenes were the only thing keeping me playing. But, it is a short game and it's not too hard to collect all the achievements for it. The voice acting is shoddy and the cut scenes are dated but aside from that, the game is aesthetically pleasing. I would certainly recommend other Artifex Mundi games before this one, but if you grab it on sale or in a bundle then enjoy the game and ignore the story.. This game is utter garbage, no storyline that is interesting or entertaining! Pointless and random quest; damn you're playing the queen and doing all the work. There is a reason why the added a achievement for clicking the "Hint" button as there is no logic on what to do in some cases. This one game is the worst I've played from Artifex Mundi! NOT WORTH THE PRICE! Why we've changed the art style of Irony Curtain?: Comrades! Some time ago we showed you how Irony Curtain looked in the early prototype phase and how it looks like now. Today we’d like to talk a little bit more about the reasons behind the change and the whole creative process. It’s no doubt that Irony Curtain came a long way from the times when it was just a prototype called simply ‘Matryoshka’. There are three main reasons why we’ve decided to simplify the art style: 1. The previous style looked great but it didn’t play well. The clash for the crown is coming!: Add the game to your wishlist and stay updated!. Revisit the magic world of Slavic legends!: The Sorcerer’s Mirror presents another chapter of the adventures of Mary, a botanist from the first Eventide. This time Mara has to release her niece Jenny from the clutches of Tvardovsky the immortal wizard, who kidnapped the girl during a trip into the mountains. Mary will do everything to rescue this girl – she will venture into an ancient forest filled with a mysterious power and walk along the steep mountain paths and the ruins, where she’ll meet imps, phantoms, and other mystical creatures from Eastern and Central European fairy tales. To defeat the sorcerer, she’ll have to solve the mystery of the enchanted village and make very unusual allies, such as the famous 17th-century outlaw Yanosik. Will she reveal the secrets of Master Tvardovsky before it’s too late? The game launches with a 40% discount for a limited time.http://store.steampowered.com/app/510650?beta=0. My Brother Rabbit available this Fall!: Add the game to your wishlist and stay updated!. Crimson Lilly blooms best in the snow!: Crime Secrets: Crimson Lily is a mature crime story inspired by the films and shows of the 90s that takes place within a small snowy holiday resort town. When a grim murder interrupts a private detective’s vacation at the very gate to the hotel at which she was going to stay, she puts her plans for R&R on hold and sets out to do what she does best: solve violent crimes. All she has to go on is a single clue: a mysterious paper lily attached to the victim’s frozen body. Could it be the killer’s calling card? Cut off by a blizzard the protagonist will need to follow a trail that leads her deep into the dirty dealings of a small town filled with big fish. Was the tragic death of the young journalist, Lilly, a few years back only an accident, or was it somehow connected to the mysterious new murder? As it turns out, there’s more to the grim story than meets the eye, and not everyone at the hotel is who they appear to be.The game will be available with a 40% discount for a limited time.http://store.steampowered.com/app/465170/. Irony Curtain reviews digest (SPOILER: they're awesome!): Comrades! It’s been over two weeks since Matryoshka has opened the Iron(y) Curtain to the Western World and we’re overwhelmed by all positive feedback we’ve received from you and from the press. (By the way, if you didn’t leave Irony Curtain steam review yet, now it’s the best time to do it!) If you hadn’t come across to any of the reviews in the web (which is, in the words of our Matryoshkan Scientists “99,9% impossibru”), here’s a small digest to what was going on since the release: "Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love is a wonderful point-and-click adventure that simultaneously feels very nostalgic and yet very much a modern evolution of the genre classics that inspired it. (…) the journey is filled with fantastic art, lovable characters, varied gameplay, and loads of fun gags, all wrapped up nicely in a story about being the change you want to see. This game comes highly recommended for those looking to have a good laugh and enjoy a very polished adventure at the same time.” - Adventure Gamers[adventuregamers.com] (4,5/5) “Irony Curtain is the funniest game of the year. It’s also a great tribute to the PC clickers of old, and a good PnC game in its own right.” - WellPlayed[www.well-played.com.au] (8/10) “It is brilliantly written, carefully designed and put together; and most of all, seriously brilliant satire. GO PLAY THIS GAME” - Impulse Gamer[www.impulsegamer.com] (5/5) "To be honest, I didn’t expect to enjoy Irony Curtain as much as I did, but when I found myself chuckling at even the first lines of the game, I was a goner."- Darkstation[www.darkstation.com] (4,5/5) "Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love delightfully intertwines a playful and original concept with an intelligent gameplay, making it one of the most memorably games of the year so far."- All About Casual Game [www.criticalhit.net](4,5/5) "(...) Irony Curtain is an enjoyable puzzle game that delivers an outlandish yet compelling narrative and will definitely keep your attention all the way through if you’re a fan of off-beat humour and absurd puzzles."- Critical Hit [www.criticalhit.net](8/10) Thank you so much for your support – all the positive reviews and comments on Steam, the private messages, and social media comments. Glory to Matryoshka! https://store.steampowered.com/app/866190/Irony_Curtain_From_Matryoshka_with_Love/. The past and present of Irony Curtain + Steam contest!: Dear Comrades! We'd like to show you the past and present of our upcoming point and click game Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love! Below you'll have the opportunity to witness how much has changed and how far we have come from the original idea that we presented at Polish festivals a while ago. What you see before you is the prototype of Irony Curtain, which back then was called simply 'Matryoshka'. It was always our dream to make a game based on our own experiences, but also tackling the topic with humor and rowdy resistance. And since we love classic point and clicks, there wasn't much of an option but to make one!The pictures you see is from one of the locations which remained almost the same through the evolution of the game - the 'Leader's Heart' hotel lobby, from the beginning of the game. What's your opinion on these? Which verision do you like most? Let us know in the comments below and don't forget to Add Irony Curtain to your wishlist! We're incoming in 2019!IRONY CURTAIN CONTEST - WIN 3 ARTIFEX MUNDI GAMES. Easter Eggs in Irony Curtain: Comrades! Before we announce some more details about the Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love (which you can still add to wishlist by the way), we have something very special for classic adventure games fans!Although Matryoshkans love potatoes the most, there’s also one more thing close to our hearts. It’s eggs. Easter eggs to be exact. Irony Curtain is set in the 50s, but we did our best to spice it up a little with pop culture references from modern movies, comics, games and classic point & clicks. It’s kind of mandatory thing when creating the classic adventure game. Overall, we keep the balance between the story and the references, and there are places you will have a hard time finding them, but sometimes we literally go crazy with Easter eggs in some locations. Just look at the screenshot below and try to find all the references we’ve hidden there. There’s also a hint under spoiler below: ANSWERS:1. key in the shape of Sauron's Eye2. shape of the island from Monkey Island 3. sketch of a key game from Machinarium 4. crow from Enigmatis 2 5. Pirates of the Carribean key 6. Konami CodeThe medals are more monothematic because they are all inspired by the works of one studio. Can you guess what every one of them refers to?Don't forget to add Irony Curtain to wishlist!https://store.steampowered.com/app/866190/Irony_Curtain_From_Matryoshka_with_Love/
